Increase efficiency, reduce production delays, minimise risk
Quality control in manufacturing, logistics, warehouse and similar environments is a critical but expensive and time-consuming process. In a complex or high-speed environment, human inspectors may struggle to keep pace, or may become distracted or fatigued — potentially leading to defects, anomalies and other issues being missed.
As a result, defective or improperly packaged products can get shipped, industrial processes can incur downtime, and worker safety can even be compromised.
Maintain consistently high standards with video-based inspections
With an intelligent video-based solution you can make visual quality inspection a much more consistent, reliable process. At Konica Minolta we've developed Visual Quality Inspection (VQI) solutions based on smart IoT-based Mobotix video cameras combined with FORXAI, our imaging IoT platform. FORXAI enables immediate AI-based processing of camera images and video — on site or in the cloud — enabling visual inspection of any production, logistics, warehouse or other industrial process.
Our VQI solutions are designed to take over the task of constant monitoring from human inspectors, and provide more consistency than the naked eye.
We work with our customers to understand what thresholds to measure against when identifying defects, and customise the built-in algorithm accordingly. A VQI solution can be trained to detect a wide range of issues and anomalies — such as scratches, cracks, tears, holes, poor seals, missing components, dirt, leaks or damp patches, and foreign objects. When an issue is detected, the solution can send or sound an alert in real time. Alternatively, it can be integrated with your existing systems and equipment to automate an immediate action, such as removing a defective item from the production line.
As a result, organisations experience less production downtime, fewer product returns and less waste; and maintain safer working environments.
Our VQI solutions include:
- Box defect detection in production and logistics environments, helping to ensure boxes are free from dirt and damage before being packed with goods for shipping. Defective boxes are automatically removed from the production line, and dirty boxes are sent for washing.
- Continuous surface inspection to help ensure the integrity of sheet-form and other products that require a smooth surface free from defects like scratches, tears and glue leaks.
- Assembly quality inspection to guard against errors and defects in product or machine assembly such as missing, loose or badly fitted components.
